The word “ psych” in Psychology, is the Greek Psyche word, for soul. Thus, psychology is literally soulology and psychoanalysis is “ soul” analysis.
The North Node and South Node are always opposite each other. The polarity between our need for fulfillment and for our need for security correlates clearly with this nodal polarity, or opposition. The function of this nodal polarity is very simple:
The North Node corresponds to our experience of fulfillment; it is the key indicator of a person’s most fundamental intent. The South Node corresponds to our need for security and shows where we fall back upon established or familiar patterns of behavior, circumstance and experience.
Moreover the North Node is the point where the Moon crosses moving above the plain of the Earth’s orbit and the South Node is the point where the Moon crosses moving below the plain of the Earth’s orbit, i.e., the Ecliptic or apparent path of the Sun.
The Astronomers called the North Node as the Ascending Node and the South Node as the Descending Node. The Cycle of the Lunar Node takes 18.6 years to return to the same exact intersection ( Node) with our orbit around the Sun ( the ecliptic). This 18.6 years cycle can be broken into phases that correspond to general patterns of need i.e., fulfillment and security.
Both phases are highlighted by Defining Ages, during which our choices and behavior are strongly influenced by either our need for fulfillment or our corresponding need for security.
Transitional Ages mark the beginnings and endings of each phase. Thus, the first Security phase begins at 4.65 years and ends at 13.9 years, at which point the fulfillment phase begins.
It is between the ages of eighteen and nineteen and again between thirty- seven and thirty-eight. These ages in fact are the peak times during which we clearly feel the urge to align to ourselves with the all important “ why”. The North position can be characterized by our “openness to new experience”.
The innate talents and abilities are by no means exclusive to the North Node. The South Node position is generally representative of faculties that are of our second nature, so automatically performed that we sometimes take them for granted.
We can contrast them:
confidence and credibility for the South Node and less so at the North Node where we may not be as convincing.
However, we should focus on the present moments and in the coming life. Therefore, the position of the Lunar North Node by house /sign and its particular aspects are fundamental keys when evaluating the Soul purpose through the Lunar Nodal axis.
